Girls on the Run of Southwest Florida serves over 400 girls each year. We rely on volunteers to assist with many different aspects of our organization. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved at a variety of different times and in many different ways. Please take a look at our opportunities to determine what works best for your schedule. We look forward to using your time and talents to help inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident!
Coaching a Girls on the Run program is the most rewarding way to get involved with Girls on the Run of Southwest Florida. Coaches are not required to be runners, they simply must be passionate about the mission of Girls on the Run, committed to working with a group of girls throughout the 10 week season and able to bring energy and joy to each practice. More information on coach requirements can be found on the "Apply to Be a Coach" section to the left.
The GOTR Fundraising and Development Committee identifies strategies and coordinates activities that generate income to support the mission and programming of Girls on the Run. This committee heads up our Lunafest in the Spring. They also help secure and organize community business support through soliciting inkind donations, cultivating donor and sponsorship relationships and organizing special events. Volunteers are needed who are creative and are willing to reach out to their personal and professional networks for support. The committee meets monthly and requires involvement in the charity events. Contact Tara Marsh at firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
The Girls on the Run Spring 5k is our biggest event of the year. This event is the culmination of our spring programming where the girls, along with over 400 other community participants, are cheered across the finish line and congratulated for meeting their personal and physical goals. The event takes a great deal of person power to complete. We seek volunteers in the following areas: Marketing, Sponsorships, Registration and Packet Pick up, Volunteer Coordination, and Race Course logistics. The 5k committee will meet monthly between October and January and then meets more often from February through end of April. Contact Jackie Wendorf at email@example.com to get involved.
We always need help in the office and with community outreach events. Examples include: serving as a Running Buddy, staffing a water station at a 5k , representing GOTR at a local event or expo, helping assemble race materials, or lending a hand in our office with data entry or organizing projects. This is a great position for those who don't have time to coach or attend regular committee meetings, but still want to be involved in GOTR. Contact Tara Marsh at firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
